As a step-mom and mother I want to share my experiences in hope that I will touch someone, maybe help someone else. My desire is to keep it real, but on the light side as much as possible. Relive the fun, and at times the instances I hope to have grown from most.

Hold on...
Well....the unplugged thing didn't last as long as I would have liked. I cant keep up with people I love as easily. Just saying this convenience is inconvenient.

Sewing
My little lady is out growing a lot of her clothes again. What is up with this? This year we are running short on capris and summer bottoms. As I looked at the store everything was low-rise and/or too short. Grr! So I thought I might just whip her up some clothes tonight.
There is only one problem. I have no clue what I am doing. None. Zip. Nada. I measured her and her measurements are all over the patterns! What is this? I have mastered the skirt thing, I need to branch out however. My mom taught me how to follow patterns, but I have not learned to alter them. Ugh. I feel like I have hit a bit of a brick wall. Now I need to find a class somewhere that teaches to alter patterns. Not a real big deal, it just slows down my whipping of something together. There, that is my rant.

Thank You!
The past couple of days we have been having to teach our children to say "Thank you!" Here are a couple of examples. Our youngest could not scoot himself at the table the other night as my husband and I were trying to help serve and get dinner situated for our children and some guests. Our youngest kept impatiently yelling for us to help him. His brother who is usually the arch nemesis came over and pushed him in for us without even being asked, to which the youngest began to wail at the top of his lungs that he had wanted mom or dad to do it. My husband turned and said "Now is a good time to say thank you."
Our daughter asked for a candy the other day after finishing her chores and I gave her a piece. She didn't like what I gave her so I put it back, and took out two more to give her a choice. My daughter didn't like either of them and decided the first piece was what she really wanted. By this point I decided she didn't really need the candy. Later when we were readying for bed and doing our family prayers she was still moping. My hubby asked her what was wrong. As she told him how unfair I was he replied "The better response would have been thank you, don't you think?"
Yesterday our married son and his wife had some extra laundry due to an unfortunate mishap in their bathroom so they asked if I would mind them doing laundry at our house most of the day. I said sure, they thanked me and went about doing laundry all day. In the evening I thought I might try to get a load in so I wouldn't be too far behind today. However the hubby asked if he could sneak a load in so he could have some pants for work.
This morning with the two loads of clothes I didn't get done and two more needing to be done my youngest announced he had wet the bed last night I was feeling like laundry was taking over my day. After taking the kids to school I went to throw his bedding into the wash only to find my hubby's cloths still there. When I went to throw them in the drier I found it full of his pants. I am pretty sure I was a little frustrated and said something under my breath. My youngest over heard and said "Mom, now is the time you say 'Thank you.'"
He was right I should be thankful that my husband helps me with the laundry, and that I have another day to play catch-up.*sigh* Thank you Dear for helping with laundry!

Unplugging...Let's do This!
Well some of may have noticed you can't pull up my Facebook right now. You have not been defriended. I have been thinking about simplifying my life for a while now. One of the best ways for me is to unplug. I may return to Facebook eventually, but for the time being I am taking a break. My oldest step-daughter did it and so I decided I could do it too. She was my final umph I guess.
The biggest reason is because of the time I waste, part of it is because I listened to the CES devotional from this past Sunday and just need a break, Facebook is just noise for me right now and I don't need it. I have friend phone numbers, some addresses so I think old school will work there. Also I have 4 wonderful kids in my life right now who need my attention and my example.
Obviously I will continue to blog. Maybe of some of our new adventures, but I am taking a break for the time of some other distractions. My life is passing me by, I want to live it to it's fullest, I want to create memories with my family and friends that are here right now. I don't want t to look back with regrets of my children being grown and wishing I had done more with them. Thanks. Até proximo.

Living Water
I absolutely, whole heart-idly love being a mom. I wouldn't change the blessing of being one for anything.
With that said I have through the past several years missed my "singles days" I miss being able to go to the temple more regularly that I do these days. I miss having time to go out with the missionaries more often. And I miss the firesides and devotionals I was able to attend through my youth and young adulthood. I have missed the spiritual high I would leave with.
Today I went to lds.org and the first thing that showed was the CES Devotional from last night. I decided as I worked on a project I need to finish I would listen to it: CES Devotional May 2014 . It took a little bit of time, however I was able to be a mom and still enjoy being fed spiritually as Christ spoke of to the woman at the well found in John 4 in the New Testament.
The link I gave you above can link you to more amazing devotionals. As you read or listen to them you can understand a little more what I believe and where I come from.
More devotionals can be found at these sites as well:
BYU Devotionals
BYU-I Devotionals
I think when I have down time I am going to be listening to more of these. Glad I found them!
